This spring, M.E.Ch.A (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán) has planned to continue its tradition of celebrating the life and accomplishments of César E. Chávez, one of the leading activists in the civil rights movements of the 60's founder of the United Farm Workers of America. In the past, the celebration of Cesar Chavez had been held within a day, however this year we plan to extend the importance of Chávez and the movement through the extent of a week.

Annual Higher Education Conference

Spring Quarter 2007: Date TBA

The student drop-out rate continues to concern our community, and in response, we, MEChA at the University of Chicago, have organized a conference to promote the importance of education within the Latino community. The conference will feature motivational speakers and a series of workshops led by education professionals. The workshops will address such issues as: Financial aid, applying to college, student life, and options for students with different immigration status.
This is an event that is geared to excite, inform, and inspire Chicago High School students about their opportunities in higher education.
